Youtubers Participate in #Ourstolose Campaign

Finn Harries, Louis Cole and more are participating in YouTube’s campaign to raise awareness for climate change.

This week, the eagle-eyed viewers might have noticed that YouTube is sporting a couple of new icons. These icons, in the shape of a polar bear and a globe, will lead you to YouTube Spotlight’s curated videos around the topic of climate change. The campaign, led by a video titled #OursToLose, features the likes ofFinn HarriesLouis Cole and Sorted Food (covered in chocolate) amongst a plethora of YouTubers from around the world, including Casey Neistat and Cassey Ho.

The #OursToLose campaign marks the start of the COP21 Climate Conference in Paris, and aims to set out what we stand to lose if we don’t take action in protecting the environment. The video and spotlight page link to a petition that calls for a move to 100% clean energy by 2050, which the YouTubers speaking in the lead video urge everyone to sign.

In a post on their official blog, YouTube says:

“We’re encouraging the YouTube community to join the discussion by uploading their own videos that share their concerns about how environmental issues may impact the things they love. The conversation on YouTube will live through a simple hashtag: #OursToLose.”

To get involved, viewers can sign and share the petition on social media using the #OursToLose hashtag. They can also upload their own videos to share their ideas and concerns.
